A pair of overtime matches this weekend (Sept. 7-8) yielded one victory and one tie for the College of Wooster women's soccer team, which was competing at the Mt. Union Invitational. Saturday evening saw Wooster squeeze past Centre College 2-1 early in the extra session, while Frostburg State University played the Scots to a 0-0 scoreless tie on Sunday afternoon.

Against Centre, sophomore Brianna Lux played the hero role with a goal from 12 yards out just 1:15 into the first overtime. It was her second score of the season and she was assisted by first-year Ashley Maciulaitis.

Wooster's first goal came via senior Beth Hemminger just 3:33 into the match, while the Colonels knotted it early in the second half.

Senior goalkeeper Nicole Roman needed to make just four saves to preserve the win, while Jessica Chisley kept Centre in it with 17 saves on the day.

The Scots dominated play for the most part against Frostburg State as well, but neither team could find the back of the net. Wooster outshot the Lady Babcots 17-3.

Roman and Stephanie Zych were up to the task in net, tallying three and 11 saves for their respective squads.

The Scots, who now own a 3-0-2 mark, continue their nine-match road trip to start 2002 on Wednesday (Sept. 11) with a tilt at Muskingum College (3-1-0) at 5 p.m.
