The College of Wooster women’s soccer team made it a clean sweep on the weekend, easily defeating Millikin University 6-0 at a hot and humid Carl Dale Memorial Field Sunday afternoon. On Saturday, Wooster squeaked by the College of St. Joseph 2-1.

Wooster, off to a 3-0 start for the second consecutive season, scored three times in each half and did not allow a shot against an overmatched Millikin team Sunday.

Sophomore Sarah Schostarez lit up the scoreboard first with an unassisted goal – her second of the year – in the 11th minute. Just about midway through the opening stanza, junior Danielle Witchey got into the scoring column for the third-straight game, this time scoring a goal, assisted by freshman Angela Evans. Junior Ashley Maciulaitis found the back of the net less than 10 minutes later, marking her first career goal.

The second half saw more of the same Scot domination. Junior Emily Sterling scored, followed by back-to-back goals from the foot of Bethany Reiner. The senior already has three goals this fall.

Rebecca Scina got credit for her second shutout in 2004, while Millikin’s Melinda Usherwood was credited with seven stops on Wooster’s 15 shots.

The Scots will continue their current four-match homestand on Saturday (Sept. 11), when they host Carnegie Mellon University (2-0) at 2 p.m.
