The College of Wooster women's soccer team capitalized on a second half surge to net the only score of the match in its victory over John Carroll University in non-conference action from Carl Dale Memorial Field on Wednesday evening. The Fighting Scots improve their overall record to 3-2-2 this fall, while the Blue Streaks fall to 3-5-0.

After a first half in which both clubs took just four shots at the goal with none finding its target, Wooster came to life, keeping John Carroll's goalkeeper, Karen Moebius, on her toes by firing off 14 second half shots.

With just over 15 minutes remaining in the game, the Scot offense finally found away around the Blue Streak defense. Junior Erin Lustic dribbled the ball down the left side of the field, looking for an opportunity to cross to a streaking teammate, which she found in senior Ashley Maciulaitis. Maciulaitis controlled the pass and slapped the ball past a diving Moebius into the bottom left corner of the net for the score, her first this fall.

Wooster's defense held firm the rest of the way, holding John Carroll to just two shots at the goal.

Sophomore Kate Kiley recorded three saves in her first complete shutout this season, while Moebius put together a solid effort with nine saves.

The non-conference schedule continues this weekend for the Scots as they hit the road for a match with Case Western Reserve University at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24.
