Scot Booters Blank W&J 4-0
The College of Wooster added another “W” to the win column Wednesday (Sept. 14) night with a 4-0 victory over Washington and Jefferson College in non-league action from Washington, Pa. The Fighting Scots improve to 2-1-2 overall this fall, while the Presidents fall to 1-4-0. Wooster jumped out early on the hosts as junior Sarah Schostarez netted her first goal this year about six minutes into the contest. Senior Danielle Witchey tacked on another score at 28:58, via a pass from Kelly Goss, and the Scots closed out the opening period up 3-0 thanks to a Darcy Poland-to-Erin Lustic connection with 46 ticks left on the clock. Freshman Sara Dresser tallied her first career score for Wooster in the 46th minute, taking a pass from Allison Hankus to the goal and upping the advantage to 4-0. Sophomore goalie Kate Kiley started the game in goal and recorded two saves over 65:36, while freshmen Staci Alario and Abby Brown locked down the Presidents for the remaining time, with the former making one stop. Wooster returns home to Carl Dale Memorial Field for its next non-conference match up against Carnegie Mellon University on Sept. 17, at 2 p.m. |
