Lustic, Adrien Score to Lift Wooster Past Earlham 2-0
A pair of first-half goals by The College of Wooster women’s soccer team was more than enough for the Fighting Scots to kickoff their North Coast Athletic Conference schedule with a victory, as they shutout host Earlham College 2-0 Saturday afternoon in Richmond, Ind. Wooster (7-3, 1-0 NCAC) got on the board in the 17th minute when Erin Lustic scored her fifth goal of the season after receiving a pass from Taryn Higgins. It marked the first career assist for the sophomore. Just about 11 minutes later, freshman scoring sensation Winnie Adrien made it 2-0 for the Scots. The unassisted goal was her 11th this year, elevating her season scoring total to 27 points, which already puts her in a tie for eighth in team history. Overall, Wooster held a 17-4 shot advantage and earned nine corner kicks to Earlham’s two. Playing her first match in goal since missing two due to injury, Staci Alario produced three saves while preserving the shutout. The Scots next wrap up non-league play with a Tuesday night tilt at Mt. Union College (3-5). |
