The College of Wooster women’s soccer team scored two goals off of corner kicks in the final 21 minutes of action and cruised by Case Western Reserve University Saturday afternoon, 3-1. The victory improves the Scots to 4-1 away from Carl Dale Memorial Field.

Wooster controlled most of the action Saturday, and jumped on the scoreboard first on Liz Mott’s unassisted in the 14th minute of the first half as the match stayed that way until the halftime intermission. The goal was Mott’s fourth of the season to go along with six assists.

Case (5-3) tied the score, 1-1, with just over 11 minutes gone in the second half on a goal by Caroline Garber with an assist from Ana Arruda.

The Fighting Scots looked to take the lead from that point on in the second half, In the 70th minute, freshman Ashley Owen scored her third goal of the fall off a corner kick. Just over five minutes later, the Fighting Scots made it 3-1 in a nearly identical manner, as Laura Ayer posted her team-best sixth goal of the campaign off a Wooster corner kick.

The Wooster defensive unit held the Spartans to just six shots for the game, as Wooster senior goalkeeper Abby Brown tallied four saves in 90 minutes of action.

The Scots conclude their non-league schedule Wednesday when they host John Carroll University (4-4) at 4:30 p.m.
