The College of Wooster women’s soccer team rolled to its third-straight comfortable victory to start the season on Tuesday, defeating host Marietta College by a 4-0 count. Wooster has now outsocred its first three opponents 9-1.

The Fighting Scots (3-0) controlled the action throughout, including an 11-1 shot advantage during the first half, but only entered halftime with a 1-0 lead. Wooster’s opening score was courtesy of junior Alice Bauman, marking her second career goal.

With two goals early in the second, both of which Laura Ayer played a role in, the Scots dashed any hopes of a comeback by Marietta (1-2). First, Ayer crossed a ball in close to Simone DiSalvo, who finished the scoring opportunity during the 49th minute with a left-footed loft into the upper left corner. For DiSalvo, a sophomore, it was her second career goal. About 11 minutes later, Ayer scored for the fourth time on the young season, beating a defender and then finding an opening in the lower left.

Freshman Emily Lea would add a goal for good measure with 4:17 remaining.

Wooster, which ended up outshooting the Lady Pioneers 20-5, used two goalkeepers in the shutout, as senior starter Abby Brown and freshman Alix Hoffman combined for four saves. Brown had three, while Hoffman made one during her first collegiate action.

Next up, the Scots make their home debut this Saturday against Buffalo State College (1-1) at 1 p.m.
