Wooster Closes Busy Opening Stretch With 1-0 Loss at W&J
The College of Wooster women’s soccer team closed out its season-opening 8-match, 16-day stretch with a 6-2 record, however, one of its two losses came on Sunday at Washington & Jefferson College as the Presidents edged the Fighting Scots 1-0 in a non-league affair.
The lone score was courtesy of Madison Manius 2:30 into the second half when she spun around a Wooster defender and lifted the ball over Scot goalkeeper Abby Brown.
Wooster outshot its hosts 15-7 and 10 of its attempts were on goal, but Washington & Jefferson’s Jackie Foltz came up with a save on each of those. Brown nearly matched her counterpart, producing five saves on the afternoon.
The Scots have a rare six-day break between games now. They’ll next play Saturday afternoon at Case Western Reserve University (4-2).
