Scots Have Conference Opener Wednesday at Oberlin
Following a tough non-league schedule to open the season, The College of Wooster now enters North Coast Athletic Conference play, as the Fighting Scots will travel to Oberlin College (4-7, 2-0 NCAC) for their lone action of the week. That match will be Wednesday, April 2, at 4:30 p.m. Last year, Oberlin shutout Wooster 9-0 Last Week: The Scots lost their only contest, slipping to 0-6 overall. On March 27, host John Carroll University swept past Wooster 9-0 in a non-conference match that was moved indoors due to rain. During the doubles competition, the Scots’ best result came at the third position where freshman Suzanne Hamby (Elmhurst, Ill. / York Community) and junior Meredith Gavin (Rock Creek, Ohio / Saints John & Paul) teamed up to win three games before succumbing 8-3. John Carroll then prevailed at No. 1 singles (6-0, 6-0) as well as at No. 3 singles, in which Wooster sophomore Erin Bauer (Delaware, Ohio / Rutherford B. Hayes) took three games (6-1, 6-2). With the Blue Streaks clinching the match at that point, the remaining four singles matches were played to eight-game pro sets. |
