Allegheny Sweeps Wooster In Tennis
The College of Wooster men's and women's tennis teams each lost at
Allegheny today (April 15) in North Coast Athletic Conference play. The
Scot men put up a good fight before losing 4-3, while the women fell by a
margin of 6-3 to the Gators.
In men's action, Wooster won the doubles point, but lost four
singles matches to drop below .500 for the season (8-9, 1-1 NCAC East).
Junior Rob Ogg picked up a win for the Scots at second singles, beating
John Dymond 6-0, 2-6, 6-3. Also, Wooster freshman Clint Bailey posted a
6-2, 6-4 victory over Joe Gallagher at number-six.
The Scot women (3-9, 2-5 NCAC) also won a pair of singles matches
to go along with one point in doubles play. At third singles, freshman Sara
Olson topped Allegheny's Janie Senchak 6-3, 6-4, while Wooster sophomore
Kristin Walley defeated Kathryn Dorosz 6-3, 6-1 in the fourth singles spot.
The Scot women return to action tomorrow (April 16) when they take
on traditional NCAC-power Kenyon at 1 p.m., while the men host the Lords on
Tuesday, April 18, at 3:30 p.m.
