Scot Women's Tennis Falls to John Carroll
The College of Wooster fell to host John Carroll University in
non-conference women's tennis action today (April 18) at University
Heights, Ohio, by an 8-1 margin.
The Scots, who dropped their fourth match in a row and slipped to
3-11 overall on the season, were dominated in the top-half of the order by
the Blue Streaks. In fact, Wooster's top three players - junior Sara
Stonewater, junior Ashley Fisher, and freshman Sara Olson - combined to win
just six games in their singles' matches.
The bottom-half of the order fared better for the Scots,
highlighted by sophomore Kristin Walley's 6-4, 6-2 victory over Sarah
Touzalin at fourth singles. Freshman Amanda Bain lost 6-1, 6-0 to Laura
Rizzuto in the fifth singles position, while classmate Neela Satyamurthy
played well at number-six before falling 7-5, 6-1 to Jessica Theis.
John Carroll swept the doubles with ease, as Stonewater and Fisher
were the only Scot duo to give their opponents trouble, losing to Karen
Rizzuto and Marla Marino by a score of 8-5 in the first doubles spot.
Wooster has nearly a week off before its next match when they
travel to Otterbein to take on the Cardinals on Monday, April 24, at 4 p.m.
