Women's Netters Blanked By Denison

The College of Wooster women's tennis team traveled to Granville, Ohio, on Monday (April 1) for a conference match-up with traditional powerhouse Denison University, and came back humbled with a 9-0 setback against the current No. 19-ranked team in NCAA Division III.

In doubles action, Wooster (1-6, 0-2 NCAC) combined for three games led by senior Holly Laufman and freshman Becca Hicks' 8-2 loss at the third position.

Denison (7-3, 3-0 NCAC) was dominant in singles play as well, limiting the Scots to seven games in the six matches. Wooster freshman Angie Beeler put up a strong fight against her opponent at No. 3 before falling 6-3, 6-0.

The Scots are hoping for better results at this weekend's Great Lakes Colleges Association Tournament, which will be hosted by Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio.
