Scot Women's Tennis Struggles at GLCA's

The College of Wooster women's tennis fought unseasonably cold conditions and tough competition at this weekend's (April 5-6) Great Lakes Colleges Association Tournament in Gambier, Ohio, while dropping three matches.

In its opener on Friday morning, Wooster was shutdown 7-0 by Hope College. Playing a good match at No. 1 doubles for the Scots were Stacia Kock and Molly Medaris, who fell by a count of 8-6.

Later in the day, DePauw University turned away Wooster 5-0, despite several solid efforts. This time, Holly Laufman and Becca Hicks put up a good fight at No. 3 doubles before falling 8-6, while Medaris competed well at No. 2 singles (6-4, 6-4).

Unfortunately for the Scots, things didn't go much better on Saturday as they lost 5-0 to Albion College. Laufman and Hicks put together another good outing though, suffering an 8-5 setback.

All three matches were played to decision due to court availability and time constraints, so many Wooster players had to walk-off in the middle of their matches.

The Scots (1-9) hope to see better results this Wednesday (April 10), when they host Oberlin College in North Coast Athletic Conference action.
