The College of Wooster women's tennis team played one of its better matches in recent days at home on Wednesday afternoon (April 10), but still lost its sixth in a row, this time to Oberlin College 7-2 in North Coast Athletic Conference play.

After having been shutout in three matches at the Great Lakes Colleges Association Tournament this past weekend, Wooster (1-10, 0-3 NCAC) looked better right from the opening serve against Oberlin. In fact, the Scots earned their first point with ease in one of the doubles matches, as sophomore Sarah Drewes and freshman Angie Beeler teamed up for their third victory of the year at No. 2 (8-3).

The other two doubles points went to the Yeowomen (14-4, 3-0 NCAC), but Wooster responded with several strong outings in singles. Drewes and Beeler each took seven games off their opponent at the third and fourth positions, respectively, while senior Holly Laufman picked up her first career victory with a hard-fought 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 decision at No. 5.

The Scots will try and get into the winning column on Thursday, April 11, when they travel to Baldwin-Wallace College (6-4) for a non-league match-up, starting at 3:30 p.m.
