Scots Slip to 1-5 After Loss to OWU

The only sport at The College of Wooster to play a match in the northern part of its schedule to date has been the women's tennis team, which fell to Ohio Wesleyan University 8-1 on Tuesday (March 26) at the Wooster Tennis & Fitness Club.

In Wooster's North Coast Athletic Conference opener, it was swept in the doubles play, but sophomore Sarah Drewes and freshman Angie Beeler put up a good fight before succumbing 8-6 to Kelsey Dix and Rebecca Winder.

Ohio Wesleyan (6-1, 2-1 NCAC) nearly swept the singles too. However, Dix retired due to an injury near the end of the first set (5-4) of her fourth singles match-up with Beeler, giving the Scots' their point. That gave Beeler her team-leading fourth victory of 2002.

Also playing well for Wooster (1-5, 0-1 NCAC) was sophomore Molly Medaris. She dropped two very close sets (4-6, 4-6) to the Battling Bishops' Jess Amlin at No. 2 singles.

The Scots next play on Monday (April 1) at traditional power Denison University (2-1) at 3:30 p.m.
