William Smith Tops Wooster 8-1 in Hilton Head
For the second time in as many days, The College of Wooster women's tennis team faced a team on Tuesday (March 12) that already had a double-digit number of matches under its belts, and Wooster's lack of experience showed, as it fell 8-1 to William Smith College.
After falling to a 12-2 Carthage College team on Monday during its first match in Hilton Head, S.C., the Scots took on William Smith, which went 9-2 and played its conference championships in the fall.
After the Herons swept the doubles matches with relative ease, Wooster came back and played well in singles, especially at the top of the lineup. The Scots' lone point came from sophomore Molly Medaris, who outlasted her opponent 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Classmates Stacia Kock and Sarah Drewes also pushed their opponents, as Kock fell 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) at No. 1 and Drewes lost 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3.
Wooster (0-3) continues its challenging spring break schedule on Thursday (March 14), when it battles Calvin College at 8 a.m.
