The College of Wooster women's tennis team was no match for Oberlin College, as the Yeowomen posted straight set victories in all but one match en route to an 8-1 victory in North Coast Athletic Conference action from Oberlin, Ohio, on Wednesday (April 6) afternoon. The Scots suffer their fifth-straight loss and fall to 4-7 overall on the season and 0-2 in league play, while Oberlin improves to 12-2, 3-1 NCAC.

Wooster took the court against Oberlin looking to pick up its first conference victory of the season, but the Yeowomen had other things in mind. After sweeping through three doubles matches by scores of 8-2, 8-2, 8-3, Oberlin dominated the Scot singles players, sweeping through the first five positions in straight sets.

The lone bright spot for Wooster was junior Emily Alward, who pushed her season record to 4-1 by bouncing back from a first set loss to win the next two and the match against Kate Lurain at the No. 6 position 4-6, 6-3, 10-6.

The Scots play their last non-conference match up on Friday, April 8, as Baldwin-Wallace College comes into town for a 4 p.m. contest on the D.J. Hard Tennis Courts.
