Baldwin-Wallace Gets the Best of the Scots Despite Tysko & Lauberês Doubles Victory
The No. 1 doubles tandem of Joanna Tysko and Elissa Lauber won an 8-5 decision to begin the match, but it was not enough momentum to keep the wind in the Scots’ sails, as visiting Baldwin-Wallace College scored an 8-1 victory over The College of Wooster Friday afternoon at the D.J. Hard Memorial Courts. After the Fighting Scots’ (1-10) initial victory, the Yellow Jackets (18-2) swept through the rest of the doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead in to singles action. Tysko put up a good fight from her No. 1 singles spot, dropping a 6-4, 6-4 decision to her opponent. Baldwin-Wallace easily won the Nos. 2-4 singles matches, before Erin Bauer would fall in a 6-4, 6-0 decision in No. 5 action. Sarah Suddendorf also competitive in No. 6 singles, succumbing to her opposition by scores of 6-1, 6-4. With the loss, the Scots said goodbye to their two seniors, Tysko and Suddendorf, who participated in their last home contest in a Wooster uniform. The Scots look to snap their eight-game losing skid on Saturday when they travel to Springfield, Ohio to take-on Earlham College at 8 p.m. in North Coast Athletic Conference action. Wooster will then meet host and NCAC rival Wittenberg University on Sunday at 11 a.m. |
