The College of Wooster women’s tennis team opened up North Coast Athletic Conference action this afternoon, suffering a 9-0 setback to Oberlin College at the Wooster Racquet Club.

The Scots nearly started the match off on a great note, but the No. 1 doubles tandem of Joanna Tysko and Elissa Lauber dropped a tough 9-8 decision to their counterparts, and the Yeowomen swept through the rest of doubles action to take a 3-o lead into singles play.

In singles action, Oberlin breezed through the first three matches before Wooster’s No. 4 player Kimee Rankin put up a fight, losing 6-1, 7-5, and the visitors rounded out the final two matches with victories to seal the Scots’ fate.

With the loss, Wooster drops to 1-7 overall and 0-1 in NCAC action, while Oberlin improves to 8-5 overall and 2-1 in league play.

The Scots will remain home to host Allegheny College on Saturday in a match beginning at 10 a.m.
