Joanna Tysko

Joanna Tysko won at the top of the singles order for The College of Wooster, but Ohio Northern University cruised through the rest of Tuesday’s non-conference match in Ada, Ohio, as the host Polar Bears prevailed by an 8-1 count.

Tysko and partner Elissa Lauber gave Ohio Northern’s No. 1 doubles team a challenge before succumbing 8-4, however, at second and third doubles, the Polar Bears (17-4) combined to give up just one game as they took a 3-0 lead into singles.

At No. 1 singles, Tysko and Kaitlyn Macdonald played a close first set, with the Scots’ senior standout eventually taking it 6-4, and then she cruised in the second, winning 6-2. Ohio Northern was too deep for Wooster, though, yielding a mere five games in the remaining singles matches.

The Scots (1-9) will look to bounce back on Thursday when they host Baldwin-Wallace College (16-2), another member of the Ohio Athletic Conference, at 3:30 p.m.
