In its first match back north since a five-game swing in Hilton Head, S.C. over spring break, The College of Wooster was swept 9-0 by home-standing Walsh University Wednesday afternoon in North Canton, Ohio.

The Cavs swept through doubles action, but not before the Fighting Scots’ No. 1 doubles team of Joanna Tysko and Elissa Lauber and the No. 2 doubles tandem of Brenna Hart and Kimee Rankin put up a good fight, both pair losing in tight 8-6 matches.

Walsh also swept through the singles competition, however Wooster’s No. 6 singles player Sarah Suddendorf nearly prevented the sweep, taking the Cavs’  No. 6 player to the limit before succumbing in three sets, 6-4, 2-6, 3-10. Also putting forth a good showing was the Scots’ top player, Tysko, in No. 1 action, as she was tripped up by scores of 6-2 and 6-4.

Wooster will be in search of its second win of the season when it hosts North Coast Athletic Conference foe Oberlin College in its next outing on April 4. Match time is slated for 4:30 p.m.
