Oberlin Netters Blank Scots 9-0
The College of Wooster women’s tennis team opened up North Coast Athletic Conference action on Wednesday afternoon, suffering a 9-0 setback to Oberlin College.
The Scots never found their rhythm, as the No. 2 doubles tandem of Eden Kovacik and Erin Bauer dropped an 8-4 decision to their counterparts, and the Yeowomen swept through the rest of doubles action to take a 3-0 lead into singles play.
In singles action, Oberlin breezed through the first two matches before Bauer, Wooster’s No. 3 player, fought hard before losing 6-2, 6-3. Oberlin cruised through the final three matches with straight-set victories to seal the Scots’ fate.
With the loss, Wooster dropped to 0-7 overall and 0-1 in NCAC action, while Oberlin improved to 5-7 overall and a perfect 3-0 in league play.
The Scots will come home to host Case Western Reserve University on Monday in a match beginning at 4 p.m.
