Elissa Lauber and Brenna Hart defeated the top doubles team from Ohio Wesleyan University, highlighting The College of Wooster’s 8-1 setback in North Coast Athletic Conference women’s tennis action Wednesday at D.J. Hard Memorial Courts.

Lauber and Hart joined forces to prevail 9-7 over Katie Figgie and Kirsten Pfund of Ohio Wesleyan (5-10, 2-6 NCAC), who had entered the match with a 6-4 record together.

Trailing 2-1 after the doubles, Wooster (0-11, 0-4 NCAC) played several close singles matches, as the Scots’ Suzanne Hamby and Eden Kovacik nearly pushed their opponents to a third set. Hamby dropped a close first one before succumbing 6-4, 6-2 at the No. 4 position, and at No. 5, Kovacik fell 6-1, 6-4.

The Scots are slated to host Wittenberg University (8-5, 3-4 NCAC) on Saturday at 11 a.m.
