Junior pole vaulter Jill Berner set a new College of Wooster record in the pole vault, but came up just short of the NCAA Div. III qualifying standard as the Fighting Scots closed out the outdoor track and field season at the Baldwin-Wallace Twilight Meet on Friday, May 20.

Berner cleared a height of 11 feet, 2.25 inches at George Finne Stadium, surpassing her old school mark of 11 feet, one-inch set at the Wooster Open last season. Her record-breaking height came just 3.5 inches short of putting her in the NCAA Div. III Championships this week, and she finished fifth overall in the event.

Also competing for Wooster was freshman Kelly Patton and junior Tiffany White on the women's side, and junior Taylor Delhagen for the men. Patton competed both hurdle events, finishing fourth in the 100 (15.55) and sixth in the 400 (1:10.10), while White crossed the finish line in 20:11.65 for a 13th-place showing in the 5000 meters.

Delhagen, Wooster's lone male participant, came in 14th in the 5000 meters with a time of 15:30.98.
