The College of Wooster indoor track season continued this weekend with the men and women competing at the Greater Cleveland Championships in Berea, Ohio, and hosted by Baldwin-Wallace College. The men's squad finished fifth in the six-team field with 47 points, while the women came in sixth with 27 total points.

Wooster picked up three first-place finishes on the men's side, all in the last five events of the day, to overtake Hiram College (30 points) for the fifth-spot. Freshmen Ross Stevenson and Tristan Jordan led the way with first-place finishes in the high jump (5 feet, 10 inches) and the triple jump (41 feet, 7.75 inches), respectively, while Rick Drushal topped the field in the shot put with a heave of 46 feet, 7.5 inches. Alan Waddell also picked up some big points down the stretch with a second-place finish in the pole vault (11 feet).

Other top finishers on the men's side included Jon Prince with a fifth-place showing in the 400 meters (55.80), and Colin Turner with sixth and third-place finishes in the 500 meters (1:10.18) and 1000 meters (2:41.51), respectively.

On the women's side, Jill Berner accounted for nearly one-third of Wooster's points with a second-place showing in the pole vault as the junior cleared 10 feet exactly. Sophomore Alexandra Thonis and junior Kathy McCreary pulled out third-place finishes in the 200 meters (30.14) and 800 meters (2:33.61), while freshman Nicole Calderone finished one-place ahead of McCreary (1:28.15) in the 500 meters with a fourth-place finish (1:26.80).

Also earning points for the Scot women was freshman Kelly Patton with a sixth-place showing in the 55 meter hurdles (9.71).

Wooster's indoor track season continues next week with the Oberlin Invitational on Friday, Feb. 25. Events are slated to begin at 6 p.m.
