William Morgan has been a faculty member of the Biology Department since 1991. He received his B.S. in Biology from Cornell University and his Ph.D in Human Genetics at Yale University under the direction of Dr. David Ward. Subsequently, he conducted post-doctoral research in the laboratory of Dr. Iva Greenwald at Princeton University, before coming to Wooster.

Dr. Morgan teaches courses in the introductory biology curriculum and upper-level classes in genetics, developmental biology, and molecular techniques. In addition, he recently co-taught an introductory bioinformatics course. He also supervises Independent Study research students and regularly participates in the First-Year Seminar in Critical Inquiry Program.

He has conducted research on the molecular biology of animal viruses and cellular signalling during animal development. His current work focuses on the molecular biology of the oomycete plant pathogen Phytophthora infestans.
