Your grade is based on your performance
on weekly quizzes, unit tests, and laboratory assignments:
- Weekly quizzes (15 points each): These assess your
knowledge of basic factual material and key concepts presented
during the week. Each quiz is composed of multiple choice,
matching, and short-answer questions. The weekly quiz will
be given at the end of each Friday class (except for test
dates). For each of the four units, one quiz will be dropped.
A missed quiz cannot be made up.
- Unit tests: These assess your knowledge of factual
material and key concepts and your ability to synthesize
and apply this information to novel situations. Each test
may be composed of multiple choice, short answer, essay,
and problem-solving questions with 50 minutes available (see Class
Schedule for dates).
- Final exam: This assesses your knowledge of factual
material and key concepts presented in Unit 4, your ability
to synthesize and apply this information, and your ability
to synthesize and apply material from throughout the course.
It may be composed of multiple choice, short answer, essay,
and problem-solving questions with 150 minutes available
(see Class Schedule for date).
- Lab grade: See the Bio
220 Laboratory Manual for information on how your lab
grade is calculated.
