Bio 307 Development

Lab 3: Fertilization & Early Development of a Frog
Objectives
This week you will have the opportunity to observe and investigate
the process of fertilization in the frog Rana pipiens.
Experimental Procedure
Rather than give you a cookbook set of instructions, I'll ask you
to gain a little practice in experimental design. Consulting the lab
manuals on reserve, outline a strategy for observing and
investigating fertilization and early frog development.
Evaluation
You will be evaluated on...
- your experimental design (this should be prepared
individually);
- your conduct of the experiment;
- your individually prepared, draft lab report, due one week
after the lab (submit three copies, one for each partner and the
instructor);
- your critique of each partner's lab report, due two weeks
after the lab; and
- your final lab report, prepared individually, due three weeks
after the lab.
