Professor James Burnell's current research has focused on real estate markets, mortgage lending, land use and zoning issues, neighborhood development, and smart growth policies. He has been published in the journals Urban Studies, Urban Affairs Review, and the American Journal of Economics and Sociology. His most recent contribution is a chapter on Urban Economics in 21st Century Economics: A Reference Handbook edited by Rhona Free.
