Dexter Kennedy is Adjunct Instructor of Organ and Harpsichord at the College of Wooster. As the winner of the Grand Prix d’Interprétation at the 24th Concours International d’Orgue de Chartres, Dexter Kennedy has established himself internationally as one of the leading organists of his generation. Hailed as “One of the greatest organists of our times” by the Iceland Monitor, his playing has been praised by The American Organist Magazine for “prodigious technique and grand style musicality”, and was described by the Connecticut Public Broadcasting Network as “the finest in the future of American organ performance”.

Mr. Kennedy is an active recitalist throughout both North America and Europe, having performed in great cathedrals, churches, and concert halls including: Berliner Dom; St. Bavokerk, Haarlem; Slovak Philharmonic Hall, Bratislava; Chartres Cathedral; Grossmünster, Zürich; Chichester Cathedral; Hallgrimskirkja, Reykjavik; Basilica of St. Nazaire, Carcassone; Narbonne Cathedral; Auditorio Manuel de Falla, Granada; San Luigi Dei Francesi, Rome; St. Willibrordus Basilika, Echternach, Luxembourg; St. Andreas Kyrka, Malmö; and the Catédral Primada, Bogotá, Colombia;. His performances have been heard at two regional conventions of the American Guild of Organists, the St. Albans International Organ Festival, the Bergen International Organ Festival, the Canadian International Organ Competition Festival, the Aosta Valley Organ Festival, and the 51st Bratislava Music Festival. In 2015 he joined the Boston Symphony Orchestra for two subscription concerts at Tanglewood with maestros Bramwell Tovey and Ludovic Morlot. Kennedy’s 2017-2018 season will see him perform at Notre-Dame de Paris, the Eccles Organ Festival (Salt Lake City), the Arizona Bach Festival, and recitals for the Atlanta and Houston Chapters of the American Guild of Organists.

Kennedy holds a Masters Degree from the Yale University School of Music and Institute of Sacred Music and as well as an Artist Diploma from the Oberlin Conservatory. His teachers are James David Christie, Olivier Latry, Martin Jean, Jeffrey Brillhart (improvisation), Arthur Haas and Webb Wiggins (harpsichord). During the Fall 2017 semester, he is also Guest Organ Teacher in Residence at Oberlin College and Conservatory.
