Of
America’s 3,800 colleges and universities, fewer than
four percent are residential liberal arts colleges. Among that
select group, The College of Wooster enjoys growing national
recognition for its excellence, and especially for its commitment
to independent learning.
More than half a century after he first articulated it,
Howard Lowry’s vision for Independent Study seems more
relevant than ever. It is a distinctive approach to liberal
arts education, but it is not an inexpensive one. It takes
faculty as dedicated to teaching, advising, and mentoring
their students as they are to their scholarly work. It takes
first-class facilities. And it takes the resources to attract
bright, motivated students to Wooster.
We invite those who have been touched directly by Wooster
and those who believe in the enduring value of liberal arts
education to join with us. Help us meet the challenge of
excellence by supporting Independent Minds: The Campaign
for Wooster.
