Inner-City Teaching Corps

Every year dozens of college graduates choose to join the Volunteer Teaching Corps. We offer an exciting two-year teaching program that places outstanding recent college graduates as classroom teachers in inner-city Chicago schools. Members of the Corps are given a unique opportunity—the chance to serve children; the chance to grow personally and spiritually by overcoming challenges; the chance to work side-by-side with other talented young people from around the country with similar principles and passions; and the chance to put your education to work for those whose needs are most neglected by our society.

Missionary Cenacle Volunteers/Trinity Mission Center

The Trinity Mission Center is a program of the Missionary Cenacle Family, which has been sending persons on mission since 1916, serving the poor of the Americas. We are an international network of lay men and women, religious and priests of various nationalities collaborating as equals in our mission to "help Catholics become apostles." We are rooted in the belief that every Catholic, by the grace of baptism, is called to develop the heart of an apostle and the mind of a missionary.

U.S. Peace Corps

The Peace Corps traces its roots and mission to 1960, when then-Senator John F. Kennedy challenged students at the University of Michigan to serve their country in the cause of peace by living and working in developing countries. From that inspiration grew an agency of the federal government devoted to world peace and friendship. Since that time, more than 170,000 Peace Corps Volunteers have been invited by 136 host countries to work on issues ranging from AIDS education, information technology, and environmental preservation.

City Year Columbus

City Year Columbus is an AmeriCorps program that brings together a diverse group of 17-24 year olds for 10 months of national service, leadership development, and civic engagement to build a stronger community and develop the next wave of young leaders. Corps Members in Columbus tutor elementary school students, run after-school programs, and develop and implement a community service/leadership development program for middle school students called Young Heroes. Corps Members also organize large scale physical service projects to improve the neighborhoods of Columbus and participate in workshops and team building activities which help break down social barriers.

City Year Cleveland

An Action Tank for national service, City Year seeks to demonstrate, improve and promote the concept of national service as a means for building a stronger democracy. An 'action tank' is both a program and a 'think tank' - constantly combining theory and practice to advance new policy ideas, make programmatic breakthroughs, and bring about major changes in society. City Year Cleveland is looking for dedicated, diverse 17-24 year olds to complete a demanding year of community service, leadership development and civic engagement. Working on teams, Corps Members serve as mentors and tutors to elementary and middle school children, run after-school programs and teach curricula.
Members also plan and implement physical service and environmental projects.

Pittsburgh Urban Leadership Service Experience (PULSE)

The Mennonite Urban Corps and its daughter organizations PULSE and Louisville Urban Corps, are programs dedicated to bringing college graduates into the city to engage with and build urban communities.  Since 1994, Mennonite Urban Corps has recruited recent college graduates, connected them to community-building organizations where they can meaningfully apply their degrees, and provided them with room and board for a year of service-learning. MennoCorps is rooted in the voluntary service and cross-cultural learning values of the Mennonite Church, but it connects to a wide variety of faith traditions in the pursuit of its goals. The oldest MennoCorps program is PULSE, the Pittsburgh Urban Leadership Service Experience, which was founded in 1994 with the support of Allegheny Mennonite Conference's Mission and Service Commission.

The Neighborhood Academy

The Mission of The Neighborhood Academy is to break the cycle of generational poverty through education. At the Academy we provide a total education for students in grades 8-12 from low income families. The Academy is dedicated to developing the minds, bodies and spirits of our students so that they might become fully productive members of our society. By so doing our students will break the cycle of poverty that has held them captive and deprived society of the value of their lives.
