Richard H. Bromund, Professor of Chemistry Emeritus, was born in Oberlin, Ohio, and received his A.B. from Oberlin College in 1962. He received his Ph.D. from Penn State in 1968. Dick's research interests include the use of gas and liquid chromatography to determine the levels of trace organics and pollutants in natural water systems. He has worked in this area on four research leaves, two at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, one at the Swiss Federal Institute for Water Resources and Water Pollution in Zurich, and one at Lilly Research Laboratories in Indianapolis, Indiana. Dick taught in the introductory chemistry sequence and the analytical chemistry courses, as well as Introduction to I.S. He sails whenever he can.
