Sibrina N. Collins joined the department as a tenure-track assistant professor of inorganic chemistry beginning in the fall of 2008. Sibrina received her B.A. in chemistry from Wayne State University in 1994. She went on to The Ohio State University and received a M.S. in 1996 and a Ph.D. in 2000, both in inorganic chemistry. Her professional experiences include a postdoctoral research position in the Department of Chemistry at Louisiana State University; editor of the Minority Scientists Network (MiSciNet), a publication of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in Washington, DC; NSF ROA Fellow at Furman University; visiting researcher in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Cincinnati; Assistant Professor at Claflin University in Orangeburg, SC; visiting assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio and most recently, Director of Graduate Diversity Recruiting (STEM) at the University of Washington in Seattle. In her free time, Sibrina enjoys watching Law and Order: SVU and cheering on the Detroit Pistons. Sibrina's research interests include crystal engineering of metal-organic frameworks, nanoporous materials; inorganic photochemistry; inorganic synthesis; and the history of chemical sciences.
