Gerald (Jerry) Patterson | Mary Cornelius | Mary Kilpatrick | Diane Rossey

Gerald (Jerry) Patterson has been stockroom manager for the department since September 1999. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry from Hiram College and a Masters Degree in Chemistry from Case Western Reserve University. He spent his entire 38-year career with the Lubrizol Corporation in Wickliffe, OH.

At Lubrizol he worked in the Research and Development Division, beginning as a chemist developing screen testing for lubricants. After several years in organic synthesis, he worked in the Analytical Chemistry Department for 27 years as an analytical chemist and held various supervisory positions. Jerry concluded his time there as Technology Manager in Application Technology and Test Development, specializing in fuels. He has published technical papers, edited several special editions for thermal analysis journals, and has been quite active in technical societies, both locally and nationally.

Jerry and his wife, Sarah, have resided in Wooster since 1994. For part of that time he commuted to Wickliffe, but now he has but a short drive to the campus. They are the parents of Kyle. He also has three grown children and is a grandfather of five. Jerry is an avid tennis player, enjoys reading and camping, fancies cooking (especially likes to experiment with new recipes on guests and family), and is a professional clown.

Mary Cornelius, part-time departmental secretary, joined the Chemistry Department on December 1, 2008.

Mary Kilpatrick is the General Chemistry Lab Coordinator who manages the chemicals and equipment for the Introductory College Chemistry I and II (101/102) laboratories. Several years ago, Mary's duties were expanded to include teaching sections of Introductory College Chemistrylaboratory. She organizes and prepares the materials for the grading of laboratory notebooks.

Mary came to the department in 1991 after having retired from Ohio Agricurtural Research and Development Center. However, she was no stranger to the department; she is a 1964 graduate of the department.

Mary serves on the Board of Hospice of Wayne County and volunteers there.

Diane Rossey, Administrative Assistant, began her employment in the Department of Chemistry at the College on September 1, 1978. Diane enjoys knitting, cross stitching, quilting, and gardening.

Diane lives in Wooster, just a few blocks from the campus, with her husband Rod.
