Students wanting to major or minor in Chinese are encouraged and expected to spend one semester or one full year in Hong Kong or mainland China. The programs that the college endorses include: (1) the Chinese Studies Program in Hong Kong, sponsored by the ACM/GLCA, of which Wooster is a member; (2) the Council on International Education Exchange (CIEE) program in Beijing and Nanjing, sponsored by the GLCA, and (3) the Institute of Asian Studies ('AS) Beijing Program. Students interested in these or other off-campus opportunities to study Chinese in other universities in the U.S. or in Taiwan, China and Singapore should check with the program director or with Carolee Taipale, Coordinator of Off-Campus International Programs Office.
