Course Description: This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the Latin language with particular emphasis on grammar (i.e. morphology and syntax), vocabulary, and phonology. There will be bi-weekly quizzes (25%), two tests (25%), and a final exam (25%). The remainder of the grade (25%) will be based on in-class performance and homework assignments. Out of 100 points: 94-100 = A, 90-93 = A-, 87-89 = B+, 83-86 = B, 80-82 = B-, 77-79 = C+, 73-76 = C, 70-72 = C-, 60-69 = D, 59 and below = F. Attendance is expected, and there will be penalties for excessive absences: for each absence beyond two unexcused you will be docked a grade (e.g. A –> A-). In the event of an absence, excused or unexcused, you are responsible for making up the work.

Teaching Assistant: Tara Thompson '07(tthompson@wooster.edu) will be our teaching assistant this semester. She will be responsible for review before quizzes and at scheduled times during the week.
