Woo pacers prove too much for Wittenberg Wooster Cricket Club vs. Wittenberg University, Fall 2002WCC 89/4 beat Wittenberg 85 by 6 wkts. Just a week after losing to OWU, WCC took on Wittenberg University at the Douglass Quad. Putting Wittenberg in to bat, WCC got off to a flier, with vice-captain Imran Hasnain leading the charge with 4 wickets in his first spell. In an aggressive display of fast bowling, Imran beat the bat on numerous occasions and forced the Wittenberg batsmen to err in stroke play, resulting in their downfall. First-change Mohammed Chattha, looking like the determined fast bowler he was in the epic Wooster-Haverford match, accounted for three batsmen with his quick seam bowling, and before even the drinks break could be called for, Wittenberg was back in the pavillion, bowled out for just 85 in 14.3 overs. They were however, successful in seizing the early initiative with the ball, taking four relatively quick wickets, but with Zoheb Veljee (28 not-out) playing a defiant hand, WCC reached home safely with 6 wickets in hand, capping off a well-fought victory and the first win of the fall season for a new-look team. |
