"Virtually Free: An Exploration of VRML as a Vehicle of Children's Medical Education"

D'Loreyn Walker 2000

Abstract

This study attempts to survey the evolution of the virtual reality modeling language (VRML), the basics of VRML programming and VRML primitive definition. VRML is intended to expand the nature of Web design from document-orientation to 3D virtual worlds that can be easily navigated by the user. As such, VRML is a perfect vehicle for children's educational Web Sites. The Web application developed for this study is a 3D educational presentation of the physiological causes of sickle cell anemia and is targeted for a younger audience.
