"An Illustration of Three Distinct Branches of Artificial Intelligence"

Abstract

Artificial neural networks, decision trees, and genetic algorithms all are instances of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Each has traditionally been applied to different types of problems. In this thesis we find that what appears as different AI approaches can be viewed as three variations of a single approach; which in this case demonstrates a unity within AI. An artificial intelligence that is a synthesis of artificial neural networks, decision trees, and genetic algorithms should prove more effective than other AI paradigms.
