"On explicating that, in virtue of which, our intensions are true"

Sidharth Narang 2002

Abstract

This study attempts to determine whether an artificial language can model a natural language. Natural languages resist formalization due to semantics, metaphors, context, intensional constructions, etc. There are substantial theories - Possible World Semantics and Davidson's Theory of Meaning - which state that these challenges are only superficial. This study critically evaluates these two theories.
