"Boom: An Exploration of Particle Systems and the Maya Modeler"

Abstract
This study investigates classical computer animation techniques, general particle system theory, and two computer simulation techniques, namely, procedural modeling and physical-based modeling. The author presents two simulations of a particle based explosion using the blast wave equation of O. Mazarak which is described in " Animating Exploding Objects". The simulations were constructed using Maya PLE and present a keyframed procedural approach and a physical simulation using the Runge-Kutta numerical approach.
