"Particle Systems: An Exploration of the Particle System API and Constructing a Physically Based Model"

Nicholas Ryan Novak 2006

This thesis explores physically based modeling using the particle system API and discusses the history of particle systems and particle system applications. The particle system is a fascinating approach to physically based modeling, where rules of the environment take over. The excitement felt then watching a well-developed computer animation is something many people can share and understand. Although each individual may have a different level of understanding when analyzing a computer animation, the mass appeal is undeniable. Creating something unique and stimulating is a primary objective for this thesis. This thesis explores the physics of an ideal gas and produces an interactive particle system simulation as the final product.
