“An Exploration of Field Programmable Gate Arrays Using VHDL”
Kurt Kapferer 2007
Abstract
In today’s world, consumers have an ever increasing selection of electronics available to them. These products are becoming increasingly more powerful and affordable due to advances in technology. Many of these gadgets use, or can be replicated using, field programmable gate arrays, or FPGAs. This paper examines FPGAs at the application level in an effort to gain a better understanding of hardware programming and the vast uses of FPGAs. A circuit is designed using VHDL, tested for correctness, and finally loaded into an FPGA.
