"Smoking with Mr. Boltzmann"
Neha Murarka 2007
Abstract
This paper investigates particle systems used for creating fluid-like objects such as fire, smoke, and clouds in computer graphics. The implementation makes use of the Lattice Boltzmann Model (LBM) for the motion of fluids and texture splatting for finer details that model fluid turbulence. LBM addresses object environment interactions for fluid dynamics. This paper also investigates the origin of particle systems and the more commonly used Navier Stokes equations for fluid flow. Two software simulations were developed using LBM, one models cloud movement while the other simulates the movement of smoke.
