The Dean of the Faculty oversees the curriculum and works with individual faculty and departments to develop the optimal offerings of courses including First-Year Seminar in Critical Inquiry and Independent Study. The Dean chairs the Educational Policy Committee, which shares the responsibility for the development and the implementation of educational policies of the College including the curriculum. The Dean of Faculty also chairs the following committees: Academic Standards Committee, which reviews at the end of each semester a student's progress toward acquiring a degree from the College; the Upperclass Programs Committee, which considers proposals for student-designed majors among its other responsibilities; and the Faculty Research and Development Committee. In addition, the Dean is a member of several other elected and appointed faculty committees. Students with questions concerning scheduling, individual curricula, student-designed major or double major, academic regulations, credit overload, foreign language requirement, First-Year Seminar advising, etc. should contact the Dean's office for more information.
