Teaching Matters

Two faculty members, William Morgan (Biology) and Anne Gates (Education) started this informal discussion group in Fall 1996 following their attendance at the GLCA Teaching & Learning Workshops. Anne and Bill thought that it would be wonderful to have an opportunity to informally talk with Wooster colleagues about the same types of issues related to teaching and learning throughout the course of the academic year. So, they decided to try it, using some readings they had received at the GLCA summer workshop. The response was very positive, and they encouraged the group to take whatever direction it chose. The initial model focused on having a theme, sometimes with accompanying readings to talk about issues relevant to classroom teaching.

The current format of Teaching Matters is similar - a brown bag lunch event on the first Friday of each month from noon to 12:50 in Kauke 142 - offering a forum for discussing teaching related issues that are of interest to faculty members.
