Personal Background
Professor Wellington double majored in economics and sociology at Bucknell University and received her BA in 1983. She attended the University of Michigan for her graduate work in economics, receiving her PhD in 1990. Her areas of specialty are labor economics and demography. Before coming to the College of Wooster, Dr. Wellington taught at Davidson College (1990-1994) and at the Defense Resource Management Institute at the Naval Postgraduate School (1994-1997). Professor Wellington joined the faculty at the College of Wooster in the Fall of 1997.
Teaching Interests
Professor Wellington's teaching interests include Principles of Economics, Intermediate Microeconomics, Labor Economics, The Economics of Gender, Industrial Organization, Health Economics and The Economics of Race.
Research Interests
Professor Wellington has published work on the effect of the minimum wage on teen and youth employment, the determinants of the male/female wage gap and the causes for its decrease and the effect of universal coverage on labor supply. Her current research interests include the affect of health insurance availability on entrepreneurship and the determinants of entrepreneurship for young women.
