- Students will become knowledgeable about cultural, linguistic,
and ethnic diversity in the classroom.
- Students will become
aware of the latest educational developments in their content
area.
- Students will understand assessment tools for their
particular area.
- Students will become familiar with Progress
Book and other current technology software.
- Students will
be able to draw from their content areas and construct engaging,
age-appropriate lessons.
- Students will be able to construct
curriculum units that draw from new and time-tested pedagogical
concepts
from
the area of
content area reading
- Students will become aware
of educational research on issues related to pedagogical
methodology.
- Students will teach students to be able to use
context to identify and define unfamiliar words.
- Students
will be able to employ effective techniques and strategies
for the for the ongoing
development
of vocabulary
acquisition
- Students will be able to monitor
their own word identification through the use of syntax,
semantic
and graphophonem
relations.
- Each student will be required to read selected books throughout
the semester. A date will be set in the syllabus with relevant
information regarding the discussion of these books.
