Participate in an Evolving Science
Students in Computer Science have the opportunity to take part in the continued development of an evolving science. They can share both the challenges and the potential of a scientific discipline that is still early in its development and a significant number of its fundamental precepts and methodologies have only recently been identified and are undergoing significant refinement.
The goal of the Computer Science major is to provide groundwork in the theoretical foundations of computer usage together with an understanding of the practical techniques of computer programming, algorithm analysis, computer-based file and data structures, and the translation and implementation of computer programs.
Wooster Computer Science Students Compete in ACM-ICPC Programming Contest
Six Wooster computer science students on two teams recently competed in the 2009 ACM-ICPC East Central North America Regional Programming Contest in Youngstown, Ohio. There were 115 teams from 60 colleges in the competition. Although larger universities took most of the top spots, among liberal arts colleges, the two Wooster teams placed 8th and 16th. Congratulations to Tristan Vrolijk '12, Robert Taylor '11, Wenyuan Wu '11, Trisha Fultz '12, Evan Radkoff '12 and Daniel Norris '10. Learn More »
